Bible Verses for When You Are Stressed and Worried
Do you ever overwhelmed? Here are some Bible verses for being stressed and worried. Memorize this scripture set to call to mind to help ease the stress and force yourself to stop worrying. Instead, rely on God.
Why worry?
So (confession!) I may not be the best advisor on this subject because I worry too much. It’s like getting health advice from a doctor who smokes.
But I’ve been learning how to put away worries. And I’ve found some great Bible memory verses that can help when you are stressed. I like to use these to calm my mind.
My Favorite Stress reducer is not among those listed
My ultimate, go-to, memory verses are all of Psalm 23. It’s memorized, it has a tune that I remember, and I call it to mind whenever I need to calm a racing heart. I’ve used it to hold still for an injection into my throat (very long story, but just rest assured, it helped me to stay calm, focused, and still.) I use it to go to sleep if my thoughts are turning in several different directions.
I use it regularly. But I have it memorized, so there’s no need for me to put it on a scripture card.
Do you have any of these already memorized?
Taking care of your cares
Here are some of my favorites for your cares and worries:
- Cast all your cares upon him; for he cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:7
- Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. – Psalm 55:22
- Care in the heart of a man boweth it down; but a good word maketh it glad. – Proverbs 12:25
Worries & anxiousness
Worries and anxiety are just another of our “cares,” but I’ve made a different category to help group the scriptures for memorizing the words.
- Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Matthew 6:34
- Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. – Philippians 4:6
- But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:41-42
Troubles
Troubles can come upon us from without rather than within. God still has words for us.
- Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. – John 14:1
- In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. – John 16:33
- Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight. – Psalm 119:143
- Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. – James 1:2-4
Rely on Godh
Ultimately, the point is to rely on God and He will help you through.
- Fear thou not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I strengthen thee, yea, I help thee; yea, I uphold thee with My victorious right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
- Come to me all you labor and are heavy burdened and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28
- God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. – Psalm 46:1
